Participant: Dr. Steven Kaganove

Dr. Steven Kaganove is a Senior Associate Scientist at Michigan Molecular Institute. He received a BA in Chemistry from Grinnell College (1985) and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles (1993). His research interests include synthesis and applications development of highly specialized polymer materials, including silicon-containing polymers, dendrimers, and hyperbranched polymers. Applications of current interest include chemical and biological sensors, self-organizing polymers, decontamination of surfaces, drug delivery, and synthesis of biomimetic interfaces. His project within the CNBI focuses on the synthesis of amphiphilic PAMAM dendrimers, and their assembly into highly organized thin films, which will stabilize and support phospholipid bilayers, as well as template polyelectrolyte multilayers.
